Spring Updates

I don’t know how your Spring has been, but I’ve been working on so many projects I can’t see straight, and the temptation to run off into the woods is real. Anyone got a cabin to spare?

I’m kidding…mostly. But there are a few projects I seriously can’t wait to share with you because I am SO excited for these stories.

Honestly, I can’t write fast enough to finish all of my ideas and I’ll share a few of them below so you can hold me accountable, BUT I have finished one thing: the first draft of The Founding War; Book 3 of the Founding Trilogy!

Of course, now it’s time for edits and re-writes (and I’m gonna need Beta readers so keep your eyes open for that announcement) but my goal is to have everything finished and ready to launch this summer. You’ll finally know how everything turned out for Allie and Ronan, and I’m so excited to share the end of the story with you!

I’ve also already drafted the first book in a new series set in a magical version of Edwardian England, where humans, dwarves, and elves live and work together but a dark force is threatening to throw everything into chaos. The heroine is Lady Gwen St.James and I think you’re going to love her as much as I do. Imagine Sherlock Holmes and Mary Poppins had a baby with Oscar Wilde’s sense of humor and Indiana Jones’ sense of adventure and you’ll have a pretty good idea why I love her so much.

I don’t have a release date yet, but I DO have a book cover, music written and recorded by a super talented musician specifically for the novel, and all kinds of other goodies to share soon! In the meantime, here is the first character art for Gwen!

More than that, if you like retellings, I think you’re really going to get a kick out of a current work-in-development. Imagine Little Red Ridinghood was a half-vampire werewolf hunter, and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what I’m currently developing. I hope you’ll keep me honest and remind me every now and then to pull it out of the development pile and get it written!

One of my big goals this year is to finish building out The Reader’s Lounge so we have a place to connect and gush over our favorite books, and you can read what I’m currently working. I just shared another chapter from The Venatore, a companion novel to the first book in The Founding Trilogy told from Ronan’s point of view.

I hope to start recording some chapter readings and discussing them with you, answering your questions and letting you know what my thoughts were as I wrote and all those cool little behind-the-curtain details only authors know about their work. And the Reader’s Lounge is still free, so you can join any time.

Don’t worry, I’m still creating photographs and digital art and you can see all the latest work on my Instagram or on my website as I update my portfolio. There are definitely some exciting things on the way, especially if you like post-apocalyptic art.

In the meantime, I’m really hoping to spend a bit more time climbing (especially outdoors while we still live in New Mexico,) creating fun costumes to photograph, and preparing for a new life as my fella gets ready to retire from his first career. Don’t mind me, I’m just scarfing down as many chocolate chip cookies as I can get my hands on to combat the anxiety. Don’t judge.
